“The clock moves on so quickly,
see how the minutes the fly…”
The first phrases of our end of day song are a familiar signal to our kindergarten friends that it’s time to say goodbye for another day. But before we sing together, we devote some time to reflecting on the highlights of our day in our reflecting circle. The children pass the rainstick, or Kool Stick, around the circle, and each has the chance to share something special about their day. Here are a few of our Kindergarten Kool Moments:
My Kool Moment today was getting a book in the library. – Taylor
My favourite moment was playing in the Nook with my brother Elliott! I love him! – Edie
I liked colouring my dragon puppet with Mrs. Teal. – Noah
My Kindergarten Kool Moment was playing with Edie at the sand table. – Lily
I had fun making Minecraft out of lego. – Jonas
I like playing building Minecraft legos with Jonas! – Lucas
My Kindergarten Kool Moment today was making puppets and the puppet show. – Lacey
I liked playing in the gym with the big scooter! – Liam
I liked spinning the tops we made with the square blocks. – Kevyn
When I played lego and Kevyn was a bigger lego guy and I was the little one. – Cohen
I made animal houses out of playdough and the animals were in there! – Mabel

Our JK and SK students quickly mastered recognizing and printing their own names in the fall. We have now moved on to sight words, words that pop up frequently in our morning messages, and in the books we read together. Learning to quickly recall our list of sight words is one effective strategy for learning to read and reading comprehension. The children are encouraged to discover new sight words in our writing centre. Have a look at what they have found!

Can you believe it? We celebrated the 100th day of school! This year, the SK students joined in the primary division festivities, and the JK students had their own fun in the classroom, going on a 100 heart scavenger hunt, and singing counting songs. But we don’t just count on the 100th day. Every day is filled with math fun!
Counting by ones, twos, fives and tens on our number chart.
Nevermind 100, how about a 400 piece puzzle!
100 Day Goggles and Ten Frames.
Number Sentences and Number Order
Experimenting with volume and measurement at the water table.
Patterning in the sand table.
